Representatives from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the Ontario Federation of Labour who are part of the Canadian Labour Congress delegation, participated in the opening session of the third substantial prepartory Durban review conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
The chair's comments of progress had been made on the langage on the draft outcome document, made us optimistic that we would come to a final draft document by Friday April, 17,2009.
However our review of the current draft document leads us to the opinion, that many contentious issues of importance to labour are still outstanding.
Consequently, we will be spending a lot of time prior to Friday, lobbying key goverment delegates to ensure labour's position is part of the final outcome document.
